bluesky (and witchsky) currently targets node version 20.19.4, this can be clearly seen inside eas.json and inside of the makefile thats in the root of this project.
however, the most recent commit https://tangled.org/jollywhoppers.com/witchsky.app/commit/85abf7d66a6db3d1405d5588f162cfb49e7200bb added some new dependences that are not compatible with 20.19.4 and force the user to use a higher version of node (using a 22 version seems to work for me) to fetch all of the dependencies. this seems like a pretty big oversight and just leads to the codebase not being compileable unless u stop using the node version thats intended to be used, this gives me pretty bad vibes and im not sure if doing this could potentially break parts of the app or not.
preferably, it would be best to see if its possible to use older versions of these dependencies that do not rely on newer node versions.
good news! the module in question (@rolldown/plugin-babel) is vestigial and should not have been included in the pr. it can be uninstalled
with the module removed the project builds fine on node 20
