Lexicons (Draft)#

These are preliminary atproto lexicon schemas for Atmosphere Mail, published for feedback. They will change.

The NSID namespace is email.atmos.*, backed by atmos.email.

What's here#

  • email.atmos.attestation — A PDS operator's declaration of cooperative membership and mail domain control. The labeling service verifies DNS independently; the operator just declares intent and lists DKIM selectors.
  • email.atmos.defs — Label vocabulary used by the cooperative labeler.

Open questions#

  • Should the attestation carry more than DKIM selectors? Or should the labeler handle all DNS verification with zero operator input beyond the domain?
  • Is key: "any" (domain as record key, one record per domain per DID) the right model for multi-domain operators?
  • Are three label values (verified-mail-operator, relay-member, clean-sender) enough, or does the cooperative need finer granularity from day one?
  • How should negative reputation signals (warnings, probation) be handled before Permissioned Data ships?
