Outgoing-only spindles through NAT #375

open opened by logdahl.net edited

I'm not sure if this is technically feasible, so let me just ask a question:

Why do we need a hostname for a spindle?

From the little docs I read, each spindle connects to the jetstream and listens to events. I don't understand why we couldn't just let it initiate contact with both the nixery and jetstream?

Currently this fails as the spindle can never be verified.

My scenario is quite specific, but I want to have a spindle with certain hardware support only available on a machine at home, and in the future maybe scale this to multiple machines, without needing to setup hostnames for all machines (and having them exposed).

Cool stuff anyways! :^)
